Forensic Analysis
Often overlooked, a properly executed forensic analysis will provide the necessary knowledge to make educated decisions in a timely and cost-effective manner. In the long run, this will minimize the duplication of work, use of unnecessary resources (either monetary or otherwise) and will result in a well-structured repair process.
A discipline on its own merit, the forensic analysis of a failed system may be as simple as an interview followed by a non-intrusive visual examination. However some projects / failures may require additional attention due to their complexity, necessitating one or more of the following inspection tools:
Non-intrusive Surveying of Assemblies – Whether through a hand-held moisture meter or through the use of infrared imaging, often the results of such surveys require cross-references with actual physical evidence.
Intrusive Examination – With the help of a licensed contractor, this consists of selective and surgical remova
l of building envelopes to determine modes of failure.
Field Testing – Often utilized to recreate a mode of failure or to determine acceptability of an installed assembly, this procedure may include water testing, load testing, linearity testing, flood testing, etc. We put great emphasis in the observation and documentation of the testing events for later analysis.
Analytical – The field work and knowledge gained through inspections and testing will require interpretation via analytical interpretation of findings. Our engineering staff will be able to provide top-notch review and detailed reports of findings.
